The Jewel Box, Forest Park & Andres Sunset Hills
John & Haley | Romantic Bohemian Fall Wedding
October was the perfect time for John & Haley's bohemian-inspired wedding, with their beautiful earth-toned color palette of terra cotta, rust, beige and brown. And there was no better place to hold it than in the beautiful Jewel Box. Surrounded by lush greenery and gorgeous natural light filtering through the all-glass exterior, this historic Forest Park landmark provided the perfect backdrop for John & Haley's special day.
Haley looked stunning in her flowy gown from Clarice's Bridal and John looked hip in his suspenders and bow tie (and his pretty cool thunderbolt sunglasses). The bridesmaids wore velvety copper-colored dresses and carried bouquets of pampas grass and dried florals from Pampas + Petals.
The ceremony itself was beautiful, surrounded by loving family and friends, with John and Haley exchanging vows beneath a floral arch adorned with pampas and wild grasses that matched the girls' bouquets.
After the ceremony, we stuck around Forest Park for portraits of the wedding party. We visited some of my favorite spots including the Victorian Bridge and the Riffles. We had a good laugh at my husband-assistant, holding up an umbrella most of the day to shield the blinding mid-day sun so we could actually get some pictures without people squinting. Then, we headed over to beautiful Lafayette Park for more couple's portraits and THE MOST FUN wedding party photos. I've got some tricks up my sleeve for prompting wedding parties, but you never quite know how those will turn out because so much of it depends on how into it the party is. Well, John and Haley's team were up for anything and THEY DELIVERED. We had so much fun, and their photos are definitely memorable.
Lastly, we made a quick pitstop at Fabick Nature Preserve - one of my most favorite places for fall photos - for some final intimate portraits of just John and Haley alone. Fabick is secluded and quiet, and it was the perfect opportunity to just soak in the joy that they just got married before heading to the ultimate party at their reception.
The reception at Andres Sunset Hills was an amazing party. Some of my favorite parts were the ridiculous ways the wedding party chose to make their grand entrances - especially John's sister and brother-in-law riding through the ballroom on scooters, and the perfect, tear-inducing speeches from the best man and maid-of-honor. Not to mention the classic white wedding cake from Arnold's own Harter Bakery! Just about every guest was out on the dance floor while Complete Weddings kept the party going with the music!
It was such a privilege to photograph John & Haley's wedding. Everything was so beautiful - including this stunning couple - and I just adore their wedding photos! I hope you all do too.
